This substantial carved and painted wood sign reproduces Eastern Air Lines' wing emblem, and it measures roughly 58" wide by about 8½" tall. "EASTERN" and "AIR LINES" are in white lettering over the blue-painted wing form outlined in red and white, with a central roundel holding the airline's stylized falcon logo carved in relief and painted red on blue. The wing's layered edge is painted in matching red, white, and blue bands over natural wood, and the reverse is bare, grained wood with two small hanging hardware attachments near the top. The piece shows honest age throughout: chipped and flaking paint along the wing edges and lettering, a hairline crack through the falcon figure, and general wear and toning consistent with long display, possibly outdoors or in a hangar or ticket office setting. The wood itself is sound, with no structural breaks, and the carved detail remains crisp under the paint loss. A sign of this scale and hand-carved quality would have been made for point-of-sale or wall display rather than personal wear, and it makes a striking large-format piece for anyone building out an Eastern Air Lines collection.
