The International 544 is a compact utility tractor produced from 1968 to 1973. It features a 4-cylinder diesel engine producing about 44 PTO horsepower. Combining row-crop adjustability with a higher utility-style stance, this tractor offers excellent ground clearance and adjustable rear wheel spacing to accommodate a variety of crops and field conditions.
This International 544 Row Crop/High Utility Golden Demonstrator is an extraordinary and one-of-a-kind tractor—the only Gold Demonstrator produced in this model. Truly one of the only known to exist. Originally sold in Maine and later used on a Tennessee cattle ranch, its true Golden Demonstrator status was confirmed when gold paint was revealed under the red hood. Professionally restored in 2012, it features a high-quality finish, straight sheet metal, and exceptional attention to detail. With low hours, like-new tires, and a chrome grill insert, this ultra-rare 544 Golden Demonstrator is a must-have for any serious IH collector.
This tractor was originally sold in Maine and found on an auction by Tom Layman. Tom then sold it to Beau Miller in Thomson Station, Tennessee and he then used it on his cattle ranch. The Van Wyhes then purchased it from Beauin November of 2011 and after he had sent them pictures showing the gold paint coming out from under the red all over the hood. It was restored by Danny Anderson in 2012 with chrome and/or stainless steel bolts throughout sheet metal, wheels, and fenders.
Tractor runs and drives as it should and shown in the video. Tractor is equipped with a drawbar, 540 PTO with proper shield, three point system, two hydraulic remotes, fenders, lights, hazard light, a set of split rear wheel weights, front weight bracket, and seat cushions. Rear tires are 13.6-38 Firestones and front tires are 7.50-16 Firestones. Tachometer reads 14.5 hours. High quality, detailed restoration. There is a minor crack in the hood around the gauge cluster on the left side. This tractor was on the back cover of Red Power Magazine in July/August of 2014. It was also featured on the Octane Press Calendar in May of 2016.
