The Farmall 1456 is a large, heavy-duty farm tractor built from 1969–1971. It’s powered by a turbocharged IH DT407 6-cylinder diesel making around 130 PTO horsepower, designed for serious tillage and field work. The Row Crop version of the tractor was favored in the midwest corn and soybean growing states. The 1456 features a gear transmission with optional Torque Amplifier, 1000-RPM PTO and strong hydraulics. It’s best known as being the “big muscle” in the IH line and of course, it’s classic late-1960s IH styling.
This beautifully restored Farmall 1456 is a true IH icon with both history and muscle to match. It runs and operates exactly as it should, featuring an excellent, high-detail restoration with automotive paint, straight sheet metal, and classic IH styling. Well-equipped with dual PTOs, three-point hitch, weights, and premium tires. This 1456 is equally at home as the centerpiece at a show but will go to the field in a second! A rare opportunity to own a legendary, heavy-duty Farmall done right.
This 1456 still had its original gold paint when the Van Wyhes purchased it. It was originally owned by Eddy Heath from Centerburg, Ohio and it was most likely sold by the IH dealer in Utica, Ohio. From there it was purchased by a collector from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and they rebuilt the engine before using it at a couple of tractor pulls. The Van Wyhes purchased it in 2017 and it was later restored by Josh Olson in 2019 with chrome and/or stainless steel bolts throughout sheet metal, wheels, and fenders. The tractor was dynoed by Danny Anderson at 170 engine horsepower.
Tractor runs and drives as shown in the video. Tractor is equipped with a set of rear split wheel weights, front mounted suitcase weight bracket, chrome grille insert, chrome throttle and shift levers, fenders, lights, hazard lights, steps, and new seat cushions. High quality, detailed restoration. Rear tires are 20.8-38 Firestones and front tires are 11.00-16SL Goodyears. Tires are in excellent condition.
