A Hero’s Journey & The Ultimate Sacrifice:
Born in Houston, Delaware, Walter B. Taylor answered his country's call by enlisting in the U.S. Army on August 6, 1941. On the fateful night of June 5–6, 1944, SSgt. Taylor boarded a C-47 Troop Transport plane (Tail #42-23300, Chalk #9), leaping into the dark, chaotic, flak-filled skies over Normandy, France, during Operation Neptune.

Tasked with securing vital drop zones near the Merderet River, the 507th PIR engaged in some of the most brutal, close-quarters combat of the entire European theater. Just twelve days into the invasion, on June 18, 1944, 23-year-old SSgt. Taylor was Killed in Action near the embattled commune of Amfreville, France.
An Exceptional Collector’s Opportunity:
SSgt. Taylor’s supreme sacrifice earned him the Purple Heart, the French Croix de Guerre with Palm, and a permanent place of honor on the memorial rolls at the famed Airborne Museum in Sainte-Mère-Église.

This uniform stands as a sacred, tangible reminder of the price paid for freedom.
