1950 Ford Custom Convertible from the Estate of the Late Mr T.K. Davis from Crossville , Alabama. VIN.UMP159084. Original 239 CI flathead engine, 3 speed manual transmission. Continental Kit. The owner restored this car sometime in the past with new paint and upholstery. It shows very well with no obvious body damage or accidents. He purchased this car in 1956 and has kept it stored inside all its life. The car has not been started in a couple of years. Most likely it will need to have the old fuel flushed out and fresh fuel added before it can be cranked. Our policy is not to attempt to start a vintage car with old fuel and let the new owner handle prepping the car for operation again. The convertible top is manual. It has one bracket that needs to be welded where it broke. A letter from the family: This is intended to preserve and share the history of our family 1950 Ford Convertible, an automobile that has been a part of our family's story since 1956. My father in law purchased this vehicle in 1956, just six years after it was manufactured, becoming it second owner. Since that time, the car has remained in our family and has been kept indoors, protected from the elements its whole history of ownership. This automobile is more than a classic Ford. It represents a meaningful part of our families history and the history of the community in which it served. Over the years, the convertible was used in local parades, proudly carrying homecoming queens and becoming part of special community celebrations. It also served a memorable role in weddings, transporting brides and grooms from their wedding ceremonies. These occasions made the car part of some of the most important and cherished moments in the lives of local families. In its earlier years, my mother in law also drove the Ford throughout the county while working as a census clerk. The automobile was a familiar and useful part of her daily life as she traveled around the area carrying out her work. Through these experiences, the car became connected not only to our family but also to the people and places throughout the county. The 1950 Ford convertible reflects the distinctive styling and character of American automobiles in the postwar era. Equipped with the Continental package, it possesses a particular recognizable appearance that makes it appealing to enthusiasts of classic Ford automobiles. For our family this Ford represents far more than a vehicle. It carries memories of community parades, homecoming celebrations, weddings and years of my mother in law traveling throughout the county as a census clerk. It has witnessed generations of memories and played a small but special role in the lives of many people. As this automobile is presented to a new generation of collectors, we believe is history deserves to be shared and preserved alongside the vehicle itself. We hope its next owner will appreciate not only its classic styling and place in American automobile history but also the family heritage and community memories associated with it. It is our privilege to share the story of this special automobile and. the people whose lives it touched.
