Walther-designed P.38 semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm, produced by Mauser at Oberndorf under the wartime 'byf' code (1942-1945) and bearing German military eagle markings. The P.38 was the first double-action military service pistol and Germany's standard sidearm of WWII; the same model is the trademark gun of Lupin III and appears in The Dirty Dozen and Goldfinger.
Unique History
The Battle of St. Vith was a week-long, intense engagement fought from December 16 to December 21, 1944, that became one of the critical turning points of the Battle of the Bulge. Fought in and around the small Belgian town of St. Vith, a vastly outnumbered American force improvised a stubborn defense that severely fractured Hitler's timeline for his final major Western Front offensive. You can see the markings on the holster. Now there is no way to prove that it was etched by the brave soldier who carried it home, or by a later party who knew its history.
