This two-piece door chest by Hekman Furniture is in the Louis XV French Provincial style, with a warm, rich brown finish. The upper cabinet has a molded cornice over a frieze carved with flowering vines around a central shell-form ornament. Below are two arched, raised-panel doors topped with carved rosettes, fitted with long pierced escutcheon pulls. Inside, the cabinet has shelves and shaped vertical dividers, adaptable for linens, clothing, electronics, or display. The lower chest has two short drawers over two long drawers; the long drawers are carved with floral rosettes and vines and fitted with brass bail pulls. Carved shell and floral corner ornaments flank the case, a shaped apron carved with scrollwork runs below, and it stands on cabriole legs with scrolled feet. It's a substantial, elegant storage piece for a bedroom or family room. Label on the back reads "Hekman Furniture Company, Inc." It measures approximately 46" x 22" x 83". Condition: Two bail pulls are missing from the upper left drawer, where only the rosette backplates remain. There is also minor finish wear and small areas of finish loss, including at the lower edge of the carved frieze, consistent with use. Please see photos for condition.
