This is a large vertical Chinese landscape in ink with light color on paper. Towering mist-wrapped karst peaks rise above a river gorge, with a waterfall at right. At lower left, pavilions with turquoise-tiled roofs sit on a cliff, joined by an arched bridge, and a balustraded stone stair climbs the rocks. Sailing junks and small boats move on the water below. The upper section has a poem in large running-script calligraphy. A dated colophon in smaller script is at upper left, with two red artist's seals. The painting is shown full-sheet under glass with a navy liner and a gilt composition frame. Colophon date: 戊辰年 (wuchen year), most likely 1988 Framed size: 30" x 56" (frame dimensions).

Pieces from the collection, photographed in the Ross home
Burgess Auctions is pleased to present the Catherine Ross Trust, an exceptional collection of art, sculpture, decorative objects and fine furnishings. It was gathered over decades and displayed throughout the Ross family's approximately 11,000-square-foot Northside Indianapolis residence.
Catherine Ross was an educator, interior designer, businesswoman and civic leader whose eye for design is evident throughout this diverse collection. Together with her husband, noted Indianapolis cardiologist Dr. Edward Ross, she assembled an eclectic group of objects reflecting a lifetime of travel, collecting and appreciation for art, culture and design.
