This Japanese display doll shows a bride in traditional wedding attire. She wears a flowing white brocade woven with cranes and floral motifs, lined in red and layered over a white and red kimono. The white (bridal headdress) is adorned with red and gold hair ornaments. A red and silver (ornamental pouch) with dangling chains sits at her chest, and she holds a folding fan with a tasseled cord. The doll has a white face with delicately painted features and stands on a light wood platform against a gold backdrop. She's housed in a black-framed glass display case, which measures approximately 15" x 13" x 21". Condition: There is light wear to the case frame, and the glass shows smudges and marks. Please see photos for condition.

Pieces from the collection, photographed in the Ross home
Burgess Auctions is pleased to present the Catherine Ross Trust, an exceptional collection of art, sculpture, decorative objects and fine furnishings. It was gathered over decades and displayed throughout the Ross family's approximately 11,000-square-foot Northside Indianapolis residence.
Catherine Ross was an educator, interior designer, businesswoman and civic leader whose eye for design is evident throughout this diverse collection. Together with her husband, noted Indianapolis cardiologist Dr. Edward Ross, she assembled an eclectic group of objects reflecting a lifetime of travel, collecting and appreciation for art, culture and design.
