This Chinese carved hardwood end table has a two-tier step design. The lower tier has a rectangular inset panel top with a molded edge. The raised upper shelf sits on pierced side supports carved with cloud scrolls and fretwork. The apron is deeply carved in relief with dragons among swirling clouds, and the table stands on cabriole legs with carved knees and scroll feet, joined by box stretchers. It has a warm reddish-brown finish that shows off the figured grain of the panel tops. It pairs well beside a chair or sofa, and it matches the dragon throne armchair offered as Lot 195. It measures approximately 14" x 21" x 27". Condition: There is light surface wear and minor scratches to the tops, and scattered finish wear to the edges and feet, consistent with age and use. Please see photos for condition.

Pieces from the collection, photographed in the Ross home
Burgess Auctions is pleased to present the Catherine Ross Trust, an exceptional collection of art, sculpture, decorative objects and fine furnishings. It was gathered over decades and displayed throughout the Ross family's approximately 11,000-square-foot Northside Indianapolis residence.
Catherine Ross was an educator, interior designer, businesswoman and civic leader whose eye for design is evident throughout this diverse collection. Together with her husband, noted Indianapolis cardiologist Dr. Edward Ross, she assembled an eclectic group of objects reflecting a lifetime of travel, collecting and appreciation for art, culture and design.
