Limited editions are where collecting gets exciting, and this Ruger Golden Quail over/under is one of only 500 made, built in 2003 and chambered in the always-charming 28 gauge. The satin receiver is covered in scroll engraving and set off by a gold inlay of a hunting dog working quail, a scene that captures what a gun like this is all about. Its 26" over/under barrels keep it quick and lively, the kind of handling you want when a covey bursts at your feet, and the flush-mount choke tubes let you tune it for tight or open patterns while keeping the muzzles clean. With 2¾" chambers and the light, sweet-shooting nature of the 28 gauge, it’s as much a pleasure to hunt with as it is to own. A true limited-run piece like this doesn’t come along often. Every so often a collection comes through the door that makes us stop and look twice, and this is one of them. This online auction features a carefully assembled collection of over/unders, side-by-sides, semi-autos, and pumps from some of the most respected names in the shotgun world. It holds something for the upland hunter, the clays shooter, the waterfowler, and the serious collector alike.
The collection opens with a trio of Caesar Guerini Woodlander Field Magnus over/unders in 28, 20, and 12 gauge, all three with color case-hardened receivers and gold-inlaid grouse engraving, a rare chance to bring home a matched run of Italian field guns. Also featured is a Weatherby Orion D’Italia, the 2008 NRA Gun of the Year, numbered 499 of just 1,150 produced, with gold-inlaid pheasants and geese on a blued receiver. Smallbore fans will find plenty to love. There’s a Ruger Golden Quail 28 gauge from a limited run of 500, a Browning Feather XS .410 that appears new in the box, a Beretta Silver Pigeon 28 gauge, a Franchi Limited Veloce Squire 28 gauge, and a lightweight Remington 870 Wingmaster .410.
For the traditionalist, the side-by-sides include two Browning B-SS doubles, an SKB-built Ithaca 200E, and a Remington-branded 28 gauge. Clays and trap shooters can look over a Browning Citori 425 with an adjustable comb, a Browning BT-99 trap gun with a 34" barrel, and a Remington 11-87 Sporting Clays. Waterfowlers and all-around hunters will want a look at the Benelli Super Black Eagle II, Ethos, and Legacy, along with Beretta 686s, Browning Feather XS models, and Remington 1100s. Rounding out the sale are guns from Fabarm, Charles Daly, Huglu, American Arms, and Baikal, and a lever-action Marlin .410 that’s sure to start a conversation.
Every lot has been individually cataloged with photos, gauge, chamber, barrel length, and any known condition notes or modifications. Please read each description carefully and review all photos before bidding.
