The 1969 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback offers a distinctive alternative to the familiar Beetle, combining classic air-cooled Volkswagen engineering with sleek European fastback styling. With its sloping rear roofline, chrome accents, steel wheels with Volkswagen hubcaps, and unique rear-engine design, the Type 3 has become an increasingly sought-after model among vintage Volkswagen enthusiasts.
Powered by an air-cooled flat-four engine with a dual-carburetor setup and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, this Fastback runs and drives. A driving video is included with the listing so bidders can see and hear the car in operation.
The silver-gray exterior is complemented by a light-colored interior featuring high-back bucket seats, rear bench seating, VDO instrumentation, an analog clock, floor-mounted shifter, and aftermarket stereo. One of the Type 3's clever design features is its additional cargo capacity, providing luggage storage both up front and behind the rear seat despite its rear-mounted engine.
The odometer displays 4,732 miles; actual mileage is unknown.
