Research indicates this is a vintage mohair teddy bear, possibly from the 1920s to 1950s, featuring articulated joints. Has a "handle" at the bottom of the back that swivels the teddy bear's head. Similar bears from this era sometimes include a "growler" mechanism. That may be the connection with the hole in the middle of the Bear's back.
