This airliner pin is stamped "Tiffany & Co." on the reverse, along with a second line of marking too worn to read. It measures about 2⅓" wide by ⅔" tall. It shows a twin-engine, propeller-driven airliner in a diagonal climb, in the style of the Douglas transports that carried Eastern Air Lines through the 1930s and 1940s, and "E.A.L." is cast in relief on the wing. The detail is crisp: two engine nacelles with propellers, a row of tiny cabin windows along the fuselage, and a finned tail. The reverse has a horizontal pin stem with a swivel locking catch. The sterling has taken on a deep gray patina with warm coppery toning across the nose and wing, and its fine detail is still sharp. Only light surface wear shows, and the pin and catch both function. A Tiffany-made piece for an airline of this period is uncommon, making this a treasure among Eastern Airlines memorabilia.
