This Eastern Air Lines wing badge is stamped on the reverse with L.G. Balfour Company's crest-style "B" mark and "1/10 10K," identifying it as gold-filled. It measures about 2.5" wide by 0.5" tall. The center medallion carries the airline's falcon emblem in blue enamel on a white field, an earlier rendering of the bird that predates the white-on-blue oval of Eastern's "hockey stick" era. A finely rayed border frames the medallion, and five tiers of swept feathers with a satin finish and a polished leading edge extend to each side. Two straight posts secure the badge, and a slotted center screw is heavily burred from past use, with a tiny pinhole beside it. The enamel is intact with slight dulling in the white field. The polished edges show light surface scratches, and the reverse has scattered toning and small oxidation spots.
