This gilt sunburst badge matches the pattern of Eastern Air Lines pilot and crew hat badges — tapering rays radiating outward from a central round enamel disc, with a stylized silver falcon/aircraft climbing across a deep blue enamel field at center, Eastern's minimalist wing-and-sky motif from its later mid-century identity. The enamel is fully intact with no losses, showing only light surface scratching consistent with genuine wear from use. The gilt rays retain crisp definition with even overall wear to the high points, and the reverse carries the Balfour shield, along with its original screw-post fastener, intact and functional. Under the shield is "1/10 10K," confirming gold filled construction. A clean, complete example of Eastern's jet-age cap insignia.
