This large fabric flag carries Eastern Air Lines' early circular seal — a red falcon in flight over a navy field, ringed by white stars and "EASTERN AIR LINES" — alongside the bold slogan "FLY THE GREAT SILVER FLEET," the nickname Eddie Rickenbacker gave Eastern's polished, unpainted DC-3s, DC-4s, and later Constellations and Martin 4-0-4s after buying the airline in 1938. This particular seal-style logo predates Eastern's simplified "hockey stick" mark of the mid-1960s, dating the banner to that Great Silver Fleet era, roughly the late 1930s through the 1950s. Flags like this were made for point-of-sale and wayfinding use rather than outdoor flying — hung behind ticket counters, in terminal waiting areas, or at hangar and gate facilities to put Eastern's branding in front of passengers at the moment they were booking or boarding. The grommets along one edge here support that reading: they're suited to mounting flat against a wall, counter backdrop, or display board indoors, not to a halyard exposed to wind and rain, and the flag shows none of the sun-fading or weather wear a pole flag would pick up outdoors. The fabric does show expected age toning and several small brownish stains scattered across the field, along with light fraying at one grommet edge, but the printed lettering and falcon emblem remain bold and fully legible. The piece is presented framed under a slim chrome-finish frame for protection and display, measuring approximately 5'3" wide by 2'11" tall. A striking, well-preserved piece of counter or terminal signage from Eastern's Great Silver Fleet years.
