This sterling silver tie bar suspends a silhouette airplane charm on a pair of fine link chains, the classic watch-fob-style mounting popular for airline novelty and service jewelry in the mid-20th century. The airplane is cast in low relief with a stylized bird's head at the nose and the letters "EAL" engraved along the wing — most likely a period abbreviation for Eastern Air Lines. The airplane itself is stamped "STERLING" at its center, confirming solid .925 silver construction rather than plate. The metal has darkened to an even pewter-gray patina overall, with the raised detail on the airplane's body still crisp and legible, and the chains and clasp mechanism remain fully functional. A distinctive piece of wearable airline memorabilia, equally at home on a watch chain or as a tie accessory
Measures approximately 2.5"x3"
