A charming and personally provenanced vintage crew baggage tag from Eastern Air Lines, issued to flight crew member W. C. Canupp and bearing the airline's beloved pre-hockey stick identity in full color. The obverse presents the classic Eastern falcon roundel — the burgundy diving bird against the split light blue and dark navy enamel ground — encircled by "EASTERN AIR LINES" above and the period tagline "FLY EASTERN WITH CONFIDENCE ★" below, all on a brushed silver-tone disc with a chain hole at left for attachment to luggage or a bag strap. The reverse is stamped "CREW / BAGGAGE" around the perimeter in bold block letters with the crew member's name "W. C. CANUPP" engraved in the center — designating this tag for use on crew baggage, which received priority handling separate from passenger luggage. The "Fly Eastern With Confidence" slogan and the falcon roundel design date this tag to the late 1940s through early 1950s, before the tagline transitioned in 1952. Named crew baggage tags combining a vivid color face with a personalized reverse are among the most collectible Eastern Airlines pieces, offering direct personal provenance from the golden age of commercial aviation.
Measures approximately 1.75"x1.75".
