This cast-metal Lockheed Constellation was made for Eastern Air Lines, and it measures about 11" across the wings by 9" from nose to tail. The four-engine airliner has the type's dolphin-shaped fuselage and triple tail. A silver finish covers the model, and paper-style decals carry the airline's markings: "EASTERN" on the left wing, "N5 1012" on the right, and a "FLY EASTERN AIRLINES" cheatline with cabin windows and a falcon emblem near the nose. Small red decals mark the tail fins. The airplane sits on a curved arm, lettered "EASTERN" in vertical script, that rises from a blue-painted base with a recessed tray, apparently an ashtray, and "CONSTELLATION" is embossed across the front edge. The plane shows honest age and wear. There are paint losses along the nose and wing edges, a chip in the fuselage decal above the forward cabin, and worn, toned propeller tips. The base has flaking blue paint along its edges, and the tray is clouded and stained. The model is complete and displays well as a period desk piece from the days when the Constellation was the pride of Eastern's fleet, and its original decals, with the registration number visible, add to its appeal for airline collectors.
