Produced for Eastern Air Lines, this desk ashtray features a cast-metal Lockheed Constellation, the elegant triple-tailed airliner that flew Eastern's postwar routes along the East Coast. The silver-painted plane has the Connie's curved fuselage, four nacelles with pointed spinners, and three oval tail fins. It measures approximately 11" across the wings and 9" from nose to tail. The plane lifts off a curved dark blue arm lettered "EASTERN" in vertical gilt. A removable clear cover over the ash well carries the "Eastern Air Lines" script in blue with a red falcon, and a crisp "CONSTELLATION" star emblem runs across the front of the sloped base. The plane's paint is nearly complete, with only a small chip on one nacelle, light wear at the wingtips and spinner tips, and faint toning on the tail. The base and arm show only minor scattered chips, and the cover is clear with light scuffing. This is a clean, well-preserved example of the Eastern Constellation desk piece.
