This is a miniature cavalry-saber-style letter opener, a popular tourist souvenir form produced in various port cities for visitors to take home a decorative memento of their travels. The blade is engraved "SOUVENIR DE HABANA," marking this example as a piece brought back from Havana, Cuba. It's styled after a traditional saber, with a curved brass knuckle-bow guard, a wire-wrapped grip, and a slender single-edged blade with a shallow fuller running its length. A braided cord tassel with a small acorn-shaped finial hangs from the guard, a decorative flourish typical of this souvenir-sword genre. The brass hilt shows an attractive aged patina, and the steel blade has light oxidation and surface staining consistent with genuine age and handling, with no active corrosion or pitting of note. Measures approximately 7.5" long and 1.5" at the hilt
