This is a Cuban uniform button, bearing "CUBANA" arched above an engraved outline of the island of Cuba, set against a finely engine-turned radial background — almost certainly a uniform button from Cubana de Aviación, Cuba's national airline, given the matching wordmark seen on other aviation pieces. The reverse is stamped "WATERBURY BUTTON CO. / NO. 3," identifying it as the product of the Waterbury Button Company of Connecticut, a major American manufacturer of uniform and military buttons dating back to the 19th century and still in operation today. The button retains its brass shank/pin, now bent and used to mount it as a display pin rather than sewn to a garment. The brass shows a warm, aged golden patina with light wear to the high points, consistent with genuine period use.
