This seven-pointed breast star badge measures about 3.5" wide by 3.65" tall and carries the Cuban national coat of arms, the shield with the key over the sea, diagonal blue-and-white stripes, and the red field, set in a blue enamel oval and topped by a mural crown, the crenellated crown traditionally used on Latin American municipal and civic arms. Open scrollwork and a small face, sit below the shield, framed by carved foliage against the star's sunburst rays. The reverse is plain, with a horizontal pin stem, hook catch, and a small hanging loop at the top point, suggesting it could also be suspended as a medal. The enamel on the shield is intact and glossy, with only minor edge wear, and the metal shows an even, aged patina with light scattered scratches on the rays. Based on the coat of arms and mural crown, this appears to be a Cuban civic, police, or fraternal breast star from the Republic era (pre-1959), though its exact issuing body isn't confirmed.
