This personalized name bar carries real provenance: it was issued to a specific American Airlines pilot, Captain Wendell Hawkins, and worn on his uniform to identify both his name and rank. The gilt-brass bar is engraved "WENDELL HAWKINS" over "CAPTAIN" in bold black-filled lettering, with American Airlines' red and blue "AA" cockade emblem - eagle in flight between the two letters -mounted at the left edge. The reverse carries a horizontal pin-back closure, fully intact and functional, along with a small secondary mounting hole and faint traces of what may be a scratched inventory mark or signature. The brass shows a warm, honestly worn patina with light scuffing consistent with genuine daily wear rather than a display piece. Named, rank-specific crew badges like this are far scarcer than generic stock badges, since they were personally issued rather than mass-produced for inventory — a strong piece for anyone researching individual American Airlines flight crew history.
