This piece carries the rank of "CHIEF" — likely denoting a senior ground supervisor or department head within American's maintenance or ramp operations. It depicts an eagle-and-block-letter "AA" design, with the sculpted eagle rising between the two capital A's atop a full wingspan in warm gilt-bronze, and "CHIEF" spelled out in gold lettering on a deep blue enamel banner below. The pin-back closure on the reverse is intact and functional, and the badge shows an attractive aged gilt patina — consistent, honest wear from genuine period use rather than reproduction shine. It's a strong capstone piece for a display tracing American Airlines' ground-crew rank structure.
Measures approximately 3" x 1.25"
