1960 Grumman Olson Kurbmaster "Bread Sled". From the "Chip Pearce Collection". CUSTOM STREET ROD! The basics... She's registered as a 1960 Dodge P200. It came from the factory with a Dodge drive train and a Grumman Olson Aluminum Body. I looked for years to find the perfect "Shorty" Grumman to build a street rod out of. Everything I found had holes cut out on the sides for a camper or ice cream truck. This one didn't and was just like it came from the factory. It was most likely a bread truck. An old farmer had it in his field in Walker County Alabama and used it for storing horse feed for years and years. I am including an original photo of the van right after I purchased it. A friend who had a street rod shop in Shelby County Alabama took possession (8 years ago) and removed body from the chassis. Over the next few years, I bought and installed a modified Chevy S-10 Chassis with Ride Tech Air Ride. I then purchased an LS-3 and matching automatic transmission out of a late model Camaro SS. It had less than 30,000 miles on it. We installed a new wiring harness, Wilwood Brakes an all 4 corners, New headers, Tilt Column with Billet Steering wheels, Dolphin Gauges, 305/25ZR22 on front and 335/25ZR22 on the rears, a custom made set of billet aluminum 22" BOZE wheels, aluminum radiator and started building a stainless rear floor system with storage for 2 batteries. We polished the body and had brand new custom cut glass installed all around the truck. I also custom built new steel pedestals for the Bomber seats. I am including (2) custom "Dual Bomber" bench seats, one for each side of the rear of the truck that were never installed. The Sled is not quite finished because the shop owner sold the shop and I decided to finish it myself. My mechanic did some of the wiring but due to his health could no longer work on the truck. It's very very close to being finished! The Sled starts right up and idles nicely. Here is what I know it needs to be finished. 1. The Air Ride system needs to be set at your desired ride height and then the front end needs to be aligned to that height. The body will lay flat on the ground so you have choices on your preferred ride height. It will drive but since it's not set up yet, the front end is all over the road floating on the air bags. 2. Headlights and tail lights need to be wired in. They are installed but not finished. 3. Gauges need connecting. 4. Doors. I have 2 sliding doors with brand new glass in each one. You will need to purchase handles and new glide wheels for the doors to glide on. We also have a custom built all aluminum visor that someone can finish out and install for that one off look! 5. The Sled has new headers and mufflers connected. You will need to add tail pipes unless you want to keep it short. I've spent well over $80,000 at this point, probably more! These custom Sled's bring big money when finished. I have taken the Bread Sled to car shows all over Birmingham and the Alabama Gulf Coast and it's an absolute hit everywhere it goes. All of my custom collector car logos and lighting has been removed. You can add your company brand or use it as a Harley Hauler. She comes with a current Alabama Registration and bill of sale. Alabama does not title anything older than 35 years. The Sled is INCREDIBLE! Be the most unique ride in the show!

The "Chip Pearce" Collection! If you are a collector you will understand. At some point, we all decide it's time to sell our personal collection and let someone else enjoy them for the next season. I've owned 5 to 10 collector vehicles at a time most of my life. Recently I sold a few of my rides, gifted a few to my children and I have now decided it's time to sell the rest. Between grandchildren, travel and health issues, it just makes sense to let them go. I'll pick up something new to enjoy a little later down the road. Heck, I really get to enjoy all of my clients cars while I am selling them at auction anyway! Take a look at my rides up for auction.
