An extraordinarily rare and historically important delegate badge from the Primera Conferencia Técnica Interamericana de Aviación — the First Inter-American Technical Aviation Conference — held in Lima, Peru from September 16 to 23, 1937. The obverse presents a tricolor enamel bar in red, white, and red — the colors of the Peruvian national flag — bearing the full conference name in raised lettering across three panels: "CONFERENCIA / DE AVIA" — "TÉCNICA INTE / CIÓN LIMA" — "RAMERICANA / 1937" — surmounting a boldly struck spread-wing eagle device with the Coat of Arms of Peru at center in gold-tone relief. The reverse retains its original needle pin and C-catch clasp. The conference was convened in Lima at the invitation of the Peruvian Government under the sponsorship of the Pan-American Union, bringing together 12 national delegations from across the Western Hemisphere — including the United States, whose delegation was accompanied by the aircraft carrier USS Ranger and 78 aircraft for the closing ceremony. The conference sought to unify aerial legislation across the Americas and laid the groundwork for what would eventually become the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Delegate badges of this type from pre-war international aviation conferences are among the rarest and most sought-after items in the entire field of aviation insignia collecting. Country: Peru.
