A compelling matched-theme pair of U.S. Army Air Forces pilot wings badges spanning two sizes and construction methods, offering collectors both a confirmed sterling silver wartime example and a period companion piece in a single lot. The larger badge is a genuine World War II-era sterling silver pilot wings in the standard USAAF format — broad swept wings flanking a central heraldic shield with vertical ribbing — bearing the highly desirable reverse stamp "AMCRAFT / ATTLEBORO / MASS. / STERLING." Amcraft of Attleboro, Massachusetts was among the select group of New England jewelry and insignia manufacturers contracted to produce official U.S. military aviation wings during the Second World War, and their sterling silver examples are among the most sought-after by serious collectors of WWII militaria. The reverse carries a full-width straight pin-and-roller clasp with natural age toning to the sterling surfaces consistent with wartime production and eight decades of age. The smaller companion badge is struck in silver-tone base metal in the identical heraldic shield-and-wings design at a reduced scale consistent with dress uniform, cap device, or secondary wear use during the WWII through early Korean War period. The reverse shows two screw-post fittings with posts intact and no maker's mark visible. 7. The purchaser agrees to pay all reasonable attorney fees and costs incurred by the auction company in the collection of funds. The purchaser also agrees that a fee of 2% per month is added to the balance of any unpaid balance due the auction company and any other costs or losses incurred by the purchaser's failure to adhere to these terms. Any debt collection or dispute proceedings will be heard in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.
8. The auctioneer has the sole discretion to advance the bidding and may reject a nominal advance, should it in his estimation prove injurious to the auction. The auctioneer shall be the final judge in all bidding disputes and shall name a bidder as the purchaser.
9. The auction company shall not be held responsible for any 'missed' bids or bids unseen by the auctioneer. Bid Retractions ARE NOT ALLOWED! Bid ONLY on items you wish to purchase!

No charge back or refund will be allowed! Items not removed by the time listed for pick up MAY be charged a fee ($25 'Local Pickup' / $5 Small Items) to be placed in storage.
