The International 1566 is a large row-crop tractor produced from 1973 to 1976. It’s powered by a turbocharged 6-cylinder diesel engine producing around 150 PTO horsepower, designed for heavy tillage, planting, and large-scale farm work. The 1566 features a gear or power-shift transmission, 540/1000-RPM PTO, strong hydraulics, and a durable frame, making it a powerful, reliable, and versatile tractor for demanding agricultural tasks.
Runs and drives. Sheet metal is fairly straight, paint has some scratches and blemishes. Front tire size 11.00-16, rear tire size 20.8-38. Tires have good tread and only a small amount of weather cracking. Tractor has headlights, fenders, rear work lights, power steering, 3 point hitch (missing top link), 1000 PTO, drawbar, and 2 remotes. There is a John Deere ladder in place of the factory steps. Tractor appears to have had a cab originally. The front end has been repainted and the fenders have diamond plate where the lights mount.
This tractor was purchased on the Jack Mader estate auction in 2020 in Madison, SD. Mr. Mader was a midwest legend in stock car racing and tractor pulling. Danny Anderson installed a heavy duty TA and a double disk clutch along with a new camshaft. Dynoed at 285 HP. We used it for tractor pulling in Farmstock class only. It is all set p for higher HP classes with fuel pump changes but we were content staying in Farmstock 12,500 – 14,500lbs class. We did well in our class!
