The Farmall 1026 is a mid-size farm tractor built from 1970–1971. It’s powered by an IH 407 six-cylinder diesel and came from the factory producing about 123 engine horsepower, making it well suited for planting, tillage, and general farm work. The 1026 features a hydro transmission, 1000-RPM PTO, strong hydraulics, and was offered mainly as a row-crop tractor. It’s known for being dependable, easy to run, and a popular step up from earlier IH models.
This Farmall 1026 is an outstanding example of IH’s smooth-running and reliable hydrostatic tractors, offering both strong performance and exceptional presentation. It received a high-quality restoration in 2017 with new tires, fresh chrome, a chromed grill insert, and automotive-grade paint. It runs, drives, and functions exactly as it should, with straight sheet metal, sharp paint, and a well-equipped setup. Showing 2,761 hours and restored with great attention to detail, this 1026 is an excellent option for a collector, exhibitor, or anyone looking for a clean and capable classic Farmall.
This tractor was originally sold new in New York state and brought to Minnesota by Barry Kappleman of Kiester Implement in a dealer trade. The Van Wyhes purchased it from Barry in 2016 knowing that the hydro was bad. They had the hydro rebuilt but then found a bad engine as well, the engine was then rebuilt by the Case IH dealer Hammels Equipment in Chatfield Minnesota. And it dynoed at an impressive 160 horsepower! It was restored by Josh Olson in 2017.
Tractor runs and drives as shown in the video. Machine has headlights, a rear work light, 3 point hitch, PTO, 2 remotes, drawbar, fenders, power steering, and one set of split rear wheel weights. Tachometer shows 2761 hours. The left front rim has a small dent on the outer lip. Front tire size 10.00-16, rear tire size 18.4-38. Very nice tractor! High quality, detailed restoration.
